The first meeting of The Landings Garden Club took place on October 22,1986, with 27 women in attendance.  At that time The Landings consisted of Marshwood, Palmetto and Midpoint. Today the Club has grown to more than 97 members and is part of the National Garden Club, which is recognized as the largest volunteer gardening organization is the world.

Some of the Club's many accomplishments over the past 38 years:

• Arbor Day observance each year in February including trees planted on Landings Association properties and in Savannah.

• Renovated and now maintain the Serenity Garden at the Anderson Cancer Center Institute at Memorial Hospital.

• Landscaping at St. Luke's Place, a home for disabled young people.

• Adopt-A-Highway Litter Control on Diamond Causeway.

• 34 continuous years of contributing gifts, toiletries and clothing for patients at Georgia Regional Hospital.

• Enhancement of landscaping of Mall Branch of Chatham County Public Library.

• Wildflower Garden on Diamond Causeway.

• Annual Support of Area Council Botanical Garden Center on Eisenhower.

• Holiday Decoration of The Landings Community Gates.

• Plant and maintain containers at the Village Library.

• Floral arrangement for the Village Library's front desk marking Library Week.

• Blue Star Memorial Marker installation 2007.

• Butterfly Garden at Skidaway Island State Park established and funded in 2009.

• Provide financial support and volunteer labor for The Sparrow Field Pollinator Garden, a project of Skidaway Audubon.

• For the Nature Trail at The Landings, the Club purchased plants, established and identified a beautiful, 2.5 native plant trail. (This project won 1st place in the National Garden Club's 'Award for Conservation' earning our Club a $1000 prize.)  The Department of Natural Resources designated The Landings "The First Planned Community to Attain Certification in the Community Wildlife Project."  A plaque, 'The Landings - A Place Where Man and Nature Live in Harmony' hangs in the Landings Association Lobby.

• Planted an American Liberty Elm Tree in honor of 9-11 which is located near Lagoon 58 off Sounding Point Retreat in Oakridge.

• Purchased and planted a High-tower Live Oak tree at Moon River Overlook in celebration of Arbor Day 2018 and two Red Maple trees at Sparrow Field in celebration of Arbor Day 2019.

• Plant and maintain various areas at Bethesda Academy.

• Purchased plants and planted around the shelter at The Landings Kids Lagoon.

• Planted around signage at the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography.

• Plant and maintain container gardens at The Landings Club facilities.

• Established and maintain a garden plot at Skidaway Farms.  The vegetables grown are donated to local food kitchens that feed the homeless.
